Dr. Usui gave us a very easy method to use when placing Reiki hands directly onto a client's body or just above it in the auric field. The hand positions consist of 13 placements when treating self, and 15 placements when treating others, with additional placements when needed.

Once a student has received the Reiki I & II Attunements, she or he will be able to give Reiki by simply placing their hands on someone with the intention of giving a treatment. Reiki flows so easily that just thinking or talking about it turns it on.

Reiki & The Aura

The aura is a shimmering field of energy, ever changing, that surrounds all living creatures, and is composed of many layers, starting with an inner layer closest to the body, and the most extended being an average of 5 feet from the body, but which can extend up to 8 feet from the body on people who consciously work with their energy field. Each layer of the aura represents a different aspect of a person's consciousness, and it is believed that the aura is created by our thoughts and feelings, both conscious and unconscious, as well as the energies flowing around and through the body. When our aura is filled with negative thoughts and emotions, the energy flow is diminished and this can and often does create an opening for illness. Thus, treating the aura is a very important part of a Reiki session. When the aura is treated, the hands are not placed on the body, but in the auric field.

Reiki & The Chakra

They take the universal life energy that is always around us and transforms it into the various frequencies our subtle energy system needs to keep us healthy. Each of the chakras is directly linked to one of our modes of consciousness, and when inflicted by continual negative thought-forms and/or emotions can become blocked or closed, when this happens, imbalances occur. Reiki is a powerful tool to use on the chakras.

Reiki & The Meridians

The meridians are pathways that subtle energy flows through within the physical body, and contain energy points usually referred to as acupuncture or accupressure points. Each meridian is usually associated with an organ or physical system of the body, and supplies that organ or system with subtle life energy. Reiki helps to increase the meridian energy flow.
